King Sago is very slow growing shrub or small tree. It has a short, dark brown, un-branching trunk (they usually branch when they are very old) topped with graceful, arching, feathery dark green, leaves, 1 m long . The individual leaflets each end in a sharp tip. The fruit is showy orange, brown in color. It has a very nice tropical effect and easy care and makes an excellent specimen or container plant. It is easy to grow as a house plant. King Sago performs very well in shade, part shade, or full sun and requires infrequent watering once established. They look nice placed in a ground cover. It can be used for mass planting, spaced about 1.5m apart. Does not need pruning at all, and not suceptible to pests and diseases.
