Grapefruit takes its name from the fact that the fruit grows in hanging clusters. It's an evergreen tree that is thought to be a hybrid of the Asian pummelo, having larger fruits, and the sweet orange, a native of China. It produces an edible fruit, which is yellow from outside and pink in the inside. This tree should be grown in well drained soil, in full sun and needs average watering. Suceptible to pests and diseases, and little pruning needed to maintain a strong structure.
