Fukein tea tree is used mainly in bonsai because it is able to develop a thick and attractive trunk. Other than bonsai the plant is used a hedge. Small evergreen leaf are shiny dark green in color, and can maintain their small size . The tiny white flowers are blooming almost all year around with tiny round green, red, or black fruits. The plant ranks among the top 10 of medicinal plants with potential in the Philippines. Other than ornemental purposes and hedging, it is sometimes grown, especially in the Philippines, for the leaves which are used as a tea substitute and for medicinal purposes. Little pruing needed to maintain a strong structure, and is suceptible to pests and diseases.
